Rescue Assist
You mind their safety. We'll mind yours.
Introducing Rescue Assist
The first-ever use of QR codes to help passengers and first responders stay safe.
It can be a dangerous situation when, at the scene of an accident, first responders don't have a vehicle's structural information readily available. With Rescue Assist, that's no longer an issue. They can scan a QR code in a Mercedes-Benz vehicle to quickly see where batteries, airbags and other structural elements are located to safely perform the rescue.
Rescue Assist
Learn how Mercedes-Benz is committed to safety through Rescue Assist – an unpatented innovation that provides first responders easy access to the schematics of Mercedes-Benz vehicles by means of a QR code when it matters most.
Using Rescue Assist
Rescue Assist in your Mercedes-Benz
As of November 1, 2013, QR codes are installed in all Mercedes-Benz vehicles during production.
On or about April 1, 2014, Mercedes-Benz vehicles model years 1990 and newer can be retrofitted with the QR codes at any local dealership.
For First Responders: Rescue Assist in action
With Rescue Assist, the QR code decal will be placed in two areas on the vehicle. When you scan the QR code, within seconds, a webpage will open to a structural view of the vehicle. Rescue Assist is both free and easy to use.
How to scan the QR code
- Open the QR reader app on your smartphone or tablet.
- Find one of the two QR code decals. One is located on the inside of the fuel door, the other on the driver’s side door post (B-pillar).
- Hold your device in front of the decal, press the button to scan, or wait until the reader focuses and takes you to the vehicle’s schematic.
